The MacCarn's biplane had taken off from the Bayport Aerodrome, a small local airport operated by the Town of Islip and home to vintage and recre- ational aircraft. Kevin Bodkin was watching some of those biplanes fly overhead from the Sayville ferry dock, before heading home along Browns River Road. While near the Port O'Call Marina, he saw the MacCam's plane passing overhead. The biplane seemed to be engaged in flight maneuvers with another similar biplane, he said. \It looked like a toy plane at first,» Bodkin said. \I saw the plane do a cou- ple of rolls in the air, it seemed to be engaged in some sort of activity with another plane. Then I saw it drop straight out of the sky into the bay. He went straight down into the water, then a minute later his tail popped up,\ .==::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::=.
