HeMani Suffolk Coun1¥ narootics officers raided a Sayville apartment complex last Fnda3', uresting five residents of the building on charges of selling crack cocaine to undercover police. The late afternoon raid on 105 Lincoln Avenue concluded a monthlong investigation by police Narcotics Enforcement Teams, rogether withthe Fifth Precinct Crime Section. AlTested and clulrged with felony criminal sale of a con- trolled substance ,m the raid were Clyde JelUlmgs, 40, of apartment B; Laverne Brown, 42, apartment D; Jocelyn Jackson, 33, apartment Dj Bridgette Hani, 33, apartment Dj and Leighton Barrett, 23, apartment H. A sixth suspect, Joaquim Rosado, 28, of 67 Hiddink Street in Sayville, was also arrested in the raid on an outstanding warrant fot criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor. The poli~e investigation was begun in response to com,. plaints from neighbera.ood residents, the Sayville Civic Association and the Sayville Chambei' of Commerce, Detective Sergeant William Bundrick said. \We got a lot of complaints about peoJ)le selling drugs in the parking lot there and ()ther criminal activity,\ Bundrick said. uS o we sent some undercover officers in and were able to get a couple of drug sales.\ Bundrick said thepoli~e believe they have targeted most of the apartment residents selling drugs. \There are a cou- ple of more wha sen .trug~ at the buildings, but m()st of them live someplace else. They just come there because they think it's a nice p)a.ee ta set up business to sell drugs, then go home,\ Bundrick said.
