Howard Teacher arrested Connetquot elementary teacher charged with sex abuse of 12-year-old girl A Connetquot elementary school teacher has been charged with sexuaUy abusing a 12-year-old female student in an incident last June at Bosti Elementary School in Bohemia, according to Suffolk County Police. Clifford A. Reitz, of Pond Road in Bohemia, sWTendered with his attorney to police at the Sixth Precinct in Coram at 9 a.m. Tuesday morning. Reitz has been charged by Suffolk police with fli'St degree attempted sexual abuse, a felony,· and endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor. Reitz was arraigned in First District Court in Central Islip on September 13, and was released on $2,500 baH. Prosecutors had requested that bail be set at $10,000. He returns to court on September 20. Reitz faces a maximum of two and a third to seven years in state prison if convicted of the charges. According to Lieutenant Robert Hoss, commanding officer of the Suffolk Police Sex Crimes Section, the alleged inci- dent occurred on June 21 in one of the classrooms. According to a court document Hoss read, Reitz allegedly attempted to tOuch the vagina of a 12-year-old female stu- dent, rubbed her thigh with his hands .and forced open her legs. The alleged victim told her parents, who reported it to police soon after the incident, Hoss said. The case has been under investigation since last June. \We had enough to arrest him a little while ago, but he was out of town at the time. But he knew we were looking for him and his attorney called and arranged for his surrender,\ Hosssaid. Reached by phone at his home Reitz declined to comment, except to say \we are going to fight this.
