SENIOR PLAY WAS \DON'T TAKE MY PENNY\ \Don 't Take My Penny, \ the senior class play, was presented on Friday evening to an audience which com- pletely filled the scliool auditorium. The play Is a three-act comedy by Anne Coulter Martens with n cast of seventeen nnd each vole was unusually well filled , so that the production was a complete success . The comedy deals wllli modern fam- ily life and is centered around 16-ye a r- cld penny, Florence Shand , who with the help of n book qn acting and the devot ion of her best girl-friend , aspires to hi n movie actress. The star of the book-of-the-tnontli success is to be chosen by the author , Harrison Day, searching for his ' ideal heroine. During Penny ' s earnest search for lame , many amusing situations arise. Lydia Prin- gle (. V iol a Ross) , exults in giving ad- dresses on how to bring up a family but never has time to hear lhe prob- lems of stage-minded Penny, or Mark who dreams -of owning a chicken farm; or Mavis , who is in radio . The inaid in her house , Sally (Eth-el Bahnmuller), is a former child actress who has grown up but is now beset by her pub- licity agent , Norman Porter (Raymond Smith), who- claims he can make her the new Hollywood star , Dimity \West. However Sally becomes interested in Mark' s dreams of a farm , with flower and vegetable garden. Meantime Pen- ny rehearses all sorts of dramatic scenes , takes her talents seriously, much to the disgust of her boy-friend , Kerry, Wlien .she refuses to enter a tennis tournament with him , lie uiui his .pal , Greg, prepare a hoax for Penny and her enthusiastic worshipper Jo- anna .
