Acre after acre p f underbrush , dry after a rain- less week , were swe pt by flames , wit h most of t he - flres ^h ereabouts -taking place on Sundaytaftemoon and even- ing. Fire departments and police officials in t his section , as well as District Fore st Ranger Clarence E. Mr. Davis was present at Saturda y ' s meeting and continued on paga olnht BAYPOBT YOflfHS HELD IN THEFTS Two Youngsters , , 16 , ' Placed on Probation ; Admit Entering Home A series of youthful escapades , in- cl uding a number of minor thefts and the destruction of property, were un- covered at Bayport on Monda y nigh t With the arrest of Jack Qarhnrt , 16 years old, of snedecor avenue , and Lawrence Warner, also 10 y ears old, of Oakwood avenue , both of Bayport. A third youngster , whose name Is being withheld because of his age , was also taken into custody and is scheduled to appear in Children ' s Court at Patch- ogue today. The arrests were made by Islip Town Offic er Irvin g Weeks , wh o picked up Oarhart and the youngster whose name has been withheld after chasing them from the premises of the Schneider Bevera ge Company on Montauk high- way at Bayport . The County Board of- Supervisors on Monday voted to appropriate $7 , 500 fo r the erection of a structure at Yap- hank to house highway department e quipment and approved the expendi- ture of $12 , 000 as the county ' s share in a WPA project to construct a building for the equipment of the Suffolk Coun- t y Mosquito Extermination Commis- sion. The resolution providing for the lat- ter appropriation was Introduced by Supervisor J. The district con- tests , representing the Suffolk County championship, were held In the local school for the iirst time. The Sayville students swept to five first place triumphs in a total of seven contests featured in team competition. In i ndividual competition . Say ville won six first places.
