Westerbeke on February Sth introduced a bill au- thorizing the Commissioners of the Land Office to grant to the Village of Ocean, Beach land under water 'bet ween hig h and low water mark In the At- lantic Ocean and Great South Bay, and permitting that such lands may h e filled tn by the Village or other- wise improved rind used for dock , park or recreation purposes. Sayville Lodge No. 322, I. O. O. F., has leased from Joseph Arata what was formerly Foresters ' Hall , over Klingencr ' s confectionery store. After Mr. Arntn hns re-decorated the room , the Odd Fellows are planning to move In about March llrst , and will hence- forth use the linll for their headquar- ters. O'Neill , several years ago correspondent for the Brooklyn \Eagle \ in this district has sold his interest in the Freeport News, which he es tablished a year ago. The new editor will bo Cecil Johnson , a former employee : of the Port Jefferson Ship- yard, who hits- - conducted a column in the Port'Jefferson Times for several years. The News is now owned by a corporation capitalized at $15 , 000. The Long Island Railroad freight service was interrupted a bit on Tues- d ay afternoon by a load of hay be- longing to Joseph Arata , which spilled over at the Railroad avenue crossing shortly after one o ' clock. Frank Oak- ley was coming to the village with a good-sized load and Tony Yonda and Joh n Arata -were sitting atop the load as ballast. Just as they were cross- ing the tracks , an automobile crowded their outfit and it gently tipped over. Fortunately the one o ' clock train had just gone east so it was only a freight which had to be fla gged until the men could pick up themselves and their load and move on. During the thunder storm on Sun- day nigh t , which was accompanied by sha rp flashes ot lighting, a piece of wire over the high tension wire on the Long Island Lighting ' s Com- p any ' s line s between here and Ron- k onkoma caused a short circuit. The wire fell across the cross arms of one of the poles and when tho lights went off about .10:30 , th e Light ins Company ' s entire system from River- h ead to Amltyvllle was affected. Stockdale , of Toledo , Ohio. Miss Sawyer is a granddaughter of William Prinzhorn of Sayville. and is well known here. The Invinc i bles are still invincible. On Wednesday night The Invincible Bowling Club made up of Robert Groh , Harry Reynolds. John Sprague, Justin Steigerwald and . William Whalen beat The Sayville Bowling Club three out of live games. On the latter team are Frank Gelger , C. W. Proctor , Alfred Sykes , Julius Stenger and Joseph Jahn. According to an article on the so- ciety page of the San Diego \Union , \ published in San Diego , Calif., Mr . and Mrs. I. H. Green of Sayville , were guests last Thursday evening at a din. ner in honor of Countess Ed g erly- Korzybski. an artist whose portraits on ivory were shown at an exhibition at the Little Gallery following the din- ner. Invited to the reception and ex- hibition were 250 of San Diego ' s art lovers . The thunder storm on Sunday night , accompanied by hard rain, caused most of the snow to disappear , but only f or a brfe f interval , for Tuesday night came more snow, followed by rain nnd sleet moat of Wednesday.
