His hat and the blood y knife were found on tho bank , frobi which place there was a trail of blood to the pond. The blooel was not flowing when th e b o d y was found. Coroner B. D. Skinner held an inquest on Wed nesday, and after takin g te stimo- ny the jury rendered a verdict that the ' .lid Daniel II. Young came to his death by a wound in dieted b y him upon him- elf , by severing tbe carotid artery, and that at the tinie- of inflictin g said wound ho w as r.nel for several days had been insa ne. About 12 years ago he was simila rl y affe-ct eel fcr several months , but since that time ho had shown no symptoms of th e malady until a few days before his ele-atb. He was 37 years of age. When young a beam fell striking him. on the he a d , a nd at another time he was dragg- ed on the ground by a horse until insi n- si b'c , n nd undoubtedl y he never entir e l y reco vered from tiiese injuries. This sad occurence h as caused deep s or r ow not o nl y a mon g the large nutn- be-\ of reliativcs and friends , but to an ex tensive circle of nquaintimc es. whose esteem he had won l.y'his sterl ing qual- ities.
