Mr. \Whitaker of 'Southold , gave the Convention a cordial wuleome and spoke of the ori g in asid prorrress of the Cunt y -S-j'jioty, and of the char.g-s wftich h ive occurred, not onl y in the state of society on the question of Tom- porauert , but also in the workers in this society. Among those who were iden- tified with it , in its organization and earlier history he named Bv. lloprs . Clark Srzer , Hop kins , C'heerc-r , Seaman , Sin- clair , IlHiiilin , Doane , lieid , Lockwood. Harris , Hatfield. Macdougal , Woodruff , CSotthard. Hopper , V. 'iuo-:. and Messrs, Sherry, Brown , Prince , Philli ps, Penny. Fanning, Cri pps , Wilcox , Latham , Tut- hill. and many others. \Tho workoi'3 have ehungud , but the Society is still nt work. \ A business committ ee was appointed consisting of Bovs. Hu-le Whitaki . -r and Warriner and Messrs. The meeting on Tuesday evening was opened with a song from the choir and prayer b y Ee v. J. T. Hamlin of Matti- tuck. An earnest and interesting argu- ment in favor of the first Eesohition oc- cup ied the evening and was sustained by Bev. Messrs Whitukei^Vairinur , Halo , Hamlin , Stansbury and others. The meeting was enli vened by sing ing by tho choir , and the resolution was passed b y a rising vote , and sing ing the doxology \Praise God from whom, all blessings flow. \ On Wednesday morning the conven- tion held it ' s u- >ual 9 o ' clock prayer meeting in the M.
