This was a|T organiza- tional meeting and those •g in attendance felt that the •-j concept of having a person ™ in the town available with » answers and resource S materials would be a great -j help. ■ There was a discussion s o r pooling ideas and q making a list of resource people in the immediate ^ ‘ area who would make 2 themselves available for 4-H projects. Z. Each leader discussed i’ problems that he is having with his own 4-H club. Suggestions as to how the problems might be solved were given. There is a club that is in need of more members. la Sep tember there will be a drive to increase both «u leadership and members 't in 4-H to Greenwich. 5 It was felt that the most s» immediate problem was ?■ preparing leaders and 7* 4-Hers'for participation at -• the Washington county fair. 1 ;} Mrs. Sloan has been able to schedule a meeting *• for June 22 at 9 a.m. at her home in which one of the Washington county 4-H agents will be in attendance to answer any questions about the fair. Leaders are asked to keep this date in mind. LOOSE HORSESHOES The Loose Horseshoes 4-H cluh will hold its first annual all junior horse show on Saturday, May 22, at Washington county fairgro.ixnds on route 29 between Schuylerville and Greenwich. The judge will be Leo LeFave of John- son ville. The show will begin at 9 a.m. sharp and will include fitting and show manship, English and western, horse and pony, model and riding classes and champion and reserve champion in four cate gories. The following members completed the 25 miles: Amy Pollard, Margaret' Simoneau, Susan-Imhof, Nancy Im hof, and Karen Foss. Others participating who walked 10-20 miles were: Karen Perry, Wendy Boyce, Linda Pfeiffer, - Carol Pfeiffer, Heather Staines, Sue Thivierge, Biyah Booth and JoAnne Bootp. A special 'honor was having Bryan’s grandparents, Mr._ and Mrs. Robert Booth walk with the club and com plete ten males. On Sunday Kathy Rob erts attended the Dusty Trails gymkhana winning a fourth inr|the stake race. Other members attended a show at Harkness Farms and received the follow ing: Junior Western Horsemanship, Karen Perry first; Wendy Boyce third; walk-trot, Tammy McDonald first, Carol Pfeiffer second; Western pleasure horse, Karen Perry fourth; trail class, Carl Pfeiffer sixth; lead line, Bryan Booth third, Kevin Booth fourth, D.J. McDonald fifth; musical chairs, Tammy McDon ald, second, Karen Berry, third; water race, \Karen Perry, 'fifth, Wendy Boyce, sixth, Linda Pfeiffer also at tended. HEBRON HUSSLERS The Hebron Husslers -.4-H dub \met atthe home of Franldin Shaw on May 8 . Barbara Shaw presided over the meeting. Five members were present. The inembers discussed a fund raising project, which they will decide on at the next meeting when all members are present. They also agreed on buying soil testing kits for their garden project. The members, inade peanut-butter cookies for a Mothers’ day present to their mothers. They also took the fined test on the parts of a cow. They learned about root worm in plants. They also talked about weed control.. Af terwards they went out doors to play baseball. The next meeting will be June 5-rat David Wilson’s Where Betsy Wilson is planning tp give the members a cookout, weather permitting, COSSAYUNA WILDCATS How to grow a garden was the title of a movie shown to the Cossayuna Wildcats 4-H club at their meeting on May 6 by Robert Dean, Washington county agricultural agent.
