She spoke on crafts of the 1800’s, showing many examples of them from her o-wn collection of Homespun, dresses, cov erlets, and other items of linen with the delicate embroidery of the era. She also displayed articles of knit lace and spoke of crazy quilts, Mrs. Gailor showed some of the tools needed to make the crafts, also from her collection. Members had been asked to take to the meeting examples they owned of crafts of the 1800’s but only Mrs. Frederick Zimmerman and Mrs. Dora Gifford had brought any. These they displayed and discussed. Mrs. Theodore T. Buck ley showed slides she had taken on her trip to Norway for the triennial convention of Associated Country Women of the World. She also showed slides of the trip with several other branch members this summer to the national convention in Michigan. Mrs. Anthony R. Tori conducted . the husiness meeting. She, noted that last week Mrs. Ray Wetherby was elected to a two-year term as presi dent of the New York division, Woman’s Nat ional Farm and Garden. She had been serving as division vice president. NS tb . 'Wetherby is record ing secretary oi; tJ^e, Country Women's' coun cil, USA, and has served as national recording sec retary of Farm and Gar den. Among others elected with Mrs. Wetherby were: Mrs. J. Nowell Bangs, tfciird vice president; Mrs. Joseph Myers, recording secretary; and Mrs. Don ald Paish, assistant re cording secretary. All are members of the Cam- baridge-Area branch. Mrs. Bangs reported on tlie bicentennial tree planting of the New York division on October 17 at tiie Saratoga National park under the direction of Mrs. Quinlan. Mrs. Rob ert Kidwell was in charge od arrangements fsr plant ing the sugar maple. Mrs. Turi reported briefly on the meeting of the New York division in Glens Falls at which new officers were elected. Mrs. Bangs reported also on the Min Lind memorial at the SNF of tihe Mary McClellan hos pital and of plans to put more flower plantings there in the spring. Mrs. Turi announced that, since there were no volunteers, she and Mrs. Harold Hamilton had planted the red, white and blue tulip bulbs the branch had voted to purchase and plant for the bicentennial. They have been planted at proibinent places in the towns served by the branch. It was voted to give $50 to the Beatrice Macauley memorial scholarship and several members are giv ing individually. Mrs. Mtcanley of South Hart* ford was the organizer of the Cambridge-Area branch. Mrs. Robert Voorhees reported on the Christmas luncheon which is ar ranged by the interna tional Headship commit tee of thè branch. It -will be held on Thursday, December 11, at 12:30 p.m. at the Hotel Cam bridge, Members are to take a wrapped Christmas gift for a Washington county child and a gift for the gift exchange. Reser vations are to be made with one of the local members of the commit tee. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Buckley and her committee. Buskirk —A son, Robert John, was born at the McClellan hospital on November 12 to Mr. and Mrs. Robert J. Harrington Sr. —A number of students from this area were on the first quarter honor.lists at the Cambridge central school. They were: High honors, Darlene Coolege; honor, Mary Hallock and Lisa Kaloflisch. — New York /Grand chapter and district of ficers of the Order of Eastern Star held a reception for Harold Haner, recently appointed1 grand sentinel on Tues day, November 25 at the Masonic temple.
