A b o u t six t y g u a r a n to r s have signed an agreem e n t -to assum e a n y deficit ' t h a t m a y exist next year, an d the M g te n t w i t h its series o f entertainm e n ts w ill be w ith us a g a in n e x t year. The a g r e e m e n t , signed fo r t i e com ing year differs fro m th e one th a t w a s fulfilled this year. The latte r p la n provided t h a t o r e hundred per sons should each agree to take six a d u lt tickets at; three d o llars per tick et, the idea being th a t the y w o u ld sell any the y did n o t care to use. Tlie result d id not prove all th a t w a s e x pected fo r i t . There was no organized plan for the sale o f tickets, and m a n y o f the hundred preferred to give thefti aw a y rath e r than to m a k e a personal canvass. Next year’s guaran tors sim p ly agree to assum e the deficits, as w a s done previous to th is year, and the ticket sale -will be in the hands of a com m ittee of g u a r a n to r s . Cook. H e enlisted a t the age of nineteen on A u g u s t IT, l^fi2 at Greenwich, was ’ m u s tered into service as corporal of com p a n y A on Septemb^j- 4. 1R62, prom o ted to sergeant November 14, 18fi3, and was mustered out of service Ju n e 8 , 1865, near W a s h ington, D. C IFe m a d e his home thereafter in Green w ich. He died February 23. 1R72, a t the age of twenty-nine years. “This Corps was instituted Ju n e 15, 1898 with twenty charter mem bers of whom only one survives, M rs. A m e lia Rice, wife o f Dr. C a rver Rice. “A t the beginning- only wives and? widow s were eligible to jo in b u t , afte r a short time, any loyal, w o r thy wom an, who had not given aid to the enemy, was adm itted to our order. It has been a school of le a r n ing for both old and young. O u r Post has heen one to be proud of, as thousands o f dollars have been expended th r o u g h it for relie*f and other purposes neces sary to the organization. Each and every M e m o rial day, we- provide flowers and m a k e bouquets fo r soldiers’ graves, and serve a sub sta n tia l dinner, not only fo r our ownc local Post, b u t to a ll v is it in g soldiers and ^ i e i r fam ilies; also the clergy m e n and their w iv^s, who are invited, to din n e r ; and since tlie W o rld w a r V e terans of the W o rld .war have been invited as our guests and have--re sponded.
