The news in these parts was not lim ited to the pandemic, however: There were triumphs, as when Penn Yan girls basketball team took the Section V Championship title for the first time in two and a half decades. There were trag edies, as when a Liberty Street house fire in Penn Yan left the resident with nothing but “ his car, his wallet and the clothes on his back. ” And there were controversies, such as the court case in volving a Penn Yan woman's alleged il- See 2020, Page 2A Fire claimed the home of Frank Hoover and his family in April, john christensen / the chronicle - express file photo Dundee Rotary honors Students of the Month Staff reports Chronicle Express Dundee Rotary has named its Stu dents of the Month for October and No vember at Dundee Central School. October's awardee is Ian Thompson, the son of Emily and Kyle Thompson. Ian is a member of Mrs. Demitry's sixth grade class at Dundee Central School. He takes great pride in volunteering and assisting at school and in his communi ty. Ian is also a STAR student at DCS. Jasmin Ager, November's Student of the Month, is the daughter of Jessica and William Ager Jr. Jasmine is a senior at DCS and is involved in numerous ac tivities and clubs. Jasmine is planning on attending Finger Lakes Community College after graduation.
