The applicant, Ou Shan Lin of Flushing, presented plans to the board that called for an increase in the seating at the restaurant, which was formerly Tokyo, of 48 people at 12 tables plus eight bar seats and up to five seats at a proposed sushi bar. The former restaurant had 34 seats and an additional six seats at a sushi bar. In addition, the owners want to extend the bar from 13 feet to 20 feet, which raised some concern among the board members. Trustee Anthony Davida said the plans called for a bar that appeared to be larger than needed for a service bar. “We want to make sure this is for a service bar only to provide drinks for your customers who are at or waiting for a table,” he told the owners. In addition, the board was concerned about whether the owner had a Suffolk County Health Department per mit for its grease trap, and an SLA p erm it They also tried to emphasize the importance of the owner monitoring its garbage disposal to ensure the site, which is near a senior citizen complex, is kept dean. There were some communication problems during the testimony as the owner did not have a strong command of English, so Village Attorney Joel Sikowitz suggested that the board draw up a letter to the owner outlining all of its requirements and concerns. They reserved decision on the application. (Continued on Page 8) Former Babylon Town Councilm an Tom D onnelly sworn in as County legislator...Page 3 ______
