The new law is aimed to protect public health and safety, and to ensure privacy, according to Mayor Ralph Scordino. While FAA regulations limit the right o f municipali ties to regulate aircraft, UAS such as drones generally fly at lower-than-regulated altitudes. The proposed ordinance recognizes that the Federal Aviation Administration authorizes and regulates the use of UAS by public entities and UAS used for com mercial or business purposes. The law, however, restricts a pilot o f a UAS from taking off, landing or flying over This year’s Lindenhurst High School graduating class displayed an amazing level of talent on their respective fields of play. Suiting up for the final time as high schoolers, Long Island was unable to hold a nine-point fourth-quarter lead as they fell to New York City, 37-35, in the 22nd annual United Healthcare Empire Challenge on June 21 at Hofstra University’s Shuart Stadium. “It was great, definitely the best atmosphere I’ve ever played in front of,” said Babylon strong safety Jason Carlock. “It was almost like a big-time college game.” The two squads consisted of graduating seniors from Long Island and New York City. Each team was comprised of 50 players and the Long Island side in cluded some local talent such as Farmingdale’s Chris tian Erkens, Corey Hill and Jordan McLune; West Islip’s James Foote and Tim Mullane and North Baby lon’s Wils Lamonge to go along with the aforemen tioned Carlock. “The pace o f the game really gave us a taste o f what it’s like the play at the next level,” said the defensive end Hill. “Everyone played fast and hard.” West Islip’s Tim Horan and Babylon’s Hans Wie- derkehr were selected as administrators, while St. John the Baptist’s Ralph Caursillo was named to the coaching staff.
