Towrt o f Babylon Supervisor Steve Bellone was joined by NYS Senator Owen Johnson and NYS Assemblyman Robert Sweeney Tow n o f B a b y lon assem b les H o m e lan d S e c u rity an d H a z m a t team Town of Babylon Supervisor Steve Bellone was joined by NYS Senator Owen Johnson and NYS Assembly- man Robert Sweeney to dedicate a Hazardous Materials structure and two primary response units located at Babylon Town Hall. The Town of Babylon has established a specialized team in accordance with New York State General Municipal Law Section 209-BB known as the Town of Babylon Homeland Security and Hazardous Materials Team to re spond to all man-made and natural events where the release or threatened release of hazardous materials is pres- ent. The Team’s current roster includes 68 Hazardous Materials Technicians and 32 Hazardous Materials Opera tions Suit Trained personnel. Earlier this year a structure was built in the Town of Babylon High way yard to house the two primary response units. This structure will be instrumental in keeping the response units and vital equipment on them in a stable environment. The units in clude a 2008 Hackney Hazardous Ma terials Response Vehiçle and a 1987 Pierce Heavy Rescue Type Hazardous Materials Response Unit. This disease has stopped him from doing some of the things that he re ally enjoys, like karate and playing hockey with his brothers and friends, because the treatments make him tired and weak.
