Horaces*- --------------------- B a r b a r a Griesmer, longtim e B a b y lon an d W est Islip school bus driver ■ October 28,2010, BEACON SHOPPER . 15C Jim Wilson, former West Islip resident, served in the U.S. Army by Tiffany Elliott Barbara Joan Griesmer, known as “Miss Barbara” by students and parents of the West Islip and Babylon Village school districts, died at her home on Aug. 27, 2010 after a long battle with colon cancer. She was 78 years old. A driver for 38 years, she will be remembered for her kindness and care she exhibited, according to her daughter-in-law Margaret. “She loved life on Long Island, dining out, shopping and being with her family and friends,” said her daughter-in-law. Mrs. Griesmer lived on Litchfield Avenue in Babylon Village for more than 50 years. She leaves behind her sons, Robert and his wife Anne of Norwalk, Connecticut; Bruce and his wife Kathy of Dix Hills, and Russell and his wife Margaret of Babylon Village. Her grandchildren, April, Gregory and Russell, and her niece, Debra Fisher of Palm City, Florida also survive'her. She was predeceased by her husband Robert J., and her sister, Muriel Sparacin. She reposed at the Frederick J. Chapey 8c Sons Funeral Home, West Islip, on Aug. 28 and 29, 2010. A Celebration of the Liturgy of Christian Burial was held on Aug. 30,2010 at St. Joseph’s R.C. Church, Babylon, followed by interment at North Babylon Cemetery. During this event, managing director of Daytop .Caroline Sullivan, will be speaking with attendees about teen drug and alcohol use, and what parents should be prepared to do if their child is found to be using alcohol or drugs. They will also answer any questions the crowd may have. A parent and child who are currently enrolled in the Daytop program will accompany Sullivan. The program will last approximately one hour. by Tiffany Elliott Former longtime area resident James Francis Wilson died Sept. 18, 2010 in Centerville, Ohio where he has lived for the last 12 years. He was 82 and was described by his family as a loving father and grandfather. “My dad had a remarkable way of bringing laughter even to the most difficult situation,” J'm Wilson said his daughter Theresa Wilson Biers of Ohio, who said he was an animal lover who enjoyed eating and spending time with his family. Mr. Wilson lived in the West Islip, Mastic Beach, Bay Shore and Babylon areas for 70 years, before moving in with family in Ohio. According to his family, he loved crabbing, war films and was a history buff. Born Dec. 23, 1927., he served as an airplane mechanic the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked for A8cP Tea Company for five years, E.J. Korvette’s for 22 years and as a plant manager at Louis J. Schwartz Company for 12 years. In addition to his daughter, he leaves behind his son Brian James Adkins and his wife Marina of Norfolk, Virginia; his son-in-law, David Biers of Ohio; his . grandchildren, Kara Biers Hicks and her husband Don, Colleen Mary Biers, Erin Biers Fichot and her husband Cedric, Kelly Jean Biers, Michael Wilson Biers and his wife Annie, David Carl Biers, Gwen Alise Wilson and Lukas Vivian-Adkins. His great grandchildren, Braden Russell Hicks, Andrew David Hicks, Parker James Hicks, Matthew Alverson Biers and Evelyn Pauline Biers also survive him. He was predeceased by his wife Emma (flee Bouquet), his parents John and Mary, and his son Richard James. A funeral service was held Oct. 9, 2010 at Pinelawn Memorial Cemetery followed by interment. Arrangements were handled by the Tobias Funeral Home, Far Hills Chapel, Dayton, Ohio. Donations in Mr. Wilson’s memory can be made to The Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, Ohio 45420.
