Participants will write for and Babylon area resident, will hold a timed periods using a senes o f prompts series of six “poetry jumpstart” writ ing workshops from Mon., Oct. 18 to Mon., Nov. 22 at the Babylon Bean- Coffee Extreme, 17 Fire Island Ave., Babylon. Each workshop will start at 7 p.m. This series is sponsored by the Babylon Village Arts Council. Keating will use an adaptation of the workshop model pioneered by Am herst Poets and Writers founder Pat as jumping-off points. Reading these works aloud to the group is optional; comments in response, if any, should be constructive in nature as all w ork created in these workshops is understood to be “first drafts” and n o t completed poems. Babylon Breast Cancer Coalition Golf Outing October 25 The Babylon Breast Cancer Coali- at the cocktail p a rty to be h eld at Lily tion (BBCC) is hosting its annual golf outing on Monday, Oct. 25. The Golf Skill Challenge Classic will be h eld at the Sumpwams Creek Golf Course in Babylon Village with a choice o f shot gun starts at 8:30a.m., 11 a.m. a n d 1:30 p.m. The Classic is open to everyone.. There will be som ething to chal lenge every skill level plus a $20,000 hole- in-one prize. The cost per golfer is $75 and includes nine holes of golf, the hole-in- one contest, breakfast/brunch and a ticket to the Pounders Award Cocktail Party Reception. Prizes and golf awards will be awarded Flanagans Pub in Babylon Village, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. D u ring the re ception, the BBCC will p resent its in augural Founders Award. One of the original founders, Debbie Basile, who served as the BBCC president for 17 years, will b e the honoree. Tickets for the cocktail party only, may be pur chased separately for $35 per person. The Coalition is also seeking spon sors in the form of donations, gift certificates a n d m erchandise that can be used as prizes for the participat ing golfers.
