Over the years, he served twice as a Leutenant and Captain o! hagle of the rescue squad and the fire police unit. He was Chief o f the department from 2004-06, was elected ti ustee«>i the WBFl >s Benevolent association in 1990 and currently serves as the group’s secretary He also serves as a Commissioner at the West Babylon Fire District and is very active in a number of firematic organizations including the New York State Associa tion of Fire Chiefs, the Association o f Fire Districts of the State of New York and the Southern NY Volun teer Y iremen’s Association, where he is a director Richard and his wile Judith have three childien - Keith, Tara and MeHssa. The $25 on the 25th campaign is jointly spon sored by The New York State Confer- ence of May ors; the N e w York Press Association, and the New York State Economic Development Council. The $25 on the 25th campaign will give New Yorkers a concrete way to support struggling local merchants. It will encourage New Yorkers to shop locally this Sep tember 25th, spending at least $25 at a local store or stores. If successful, the $25 on the 25th campaign will be repeated. “Mark your calendars for September 25th,” said Mas sapequa Park Village Mayor James Altadonna. “This will be a day to support and celebrate Main Street busi nesses that give [village, city] so much of its charm and warmth. I am proud to join mayors across New York in helping make $25 on the 25th a tremendous success.” NYPA has created print advertisements for the cam paign, which will run in co m m u n i t y new spapers around the state. It also has de signed banners and logos for store windows to encourage as many local businesses as possible to cre ate special shopping incentives for the day. “New York’s independent businesses are the heart and soul o f this state, and the New York newspaper in dustry is doing everything it can to stand behind our small businesses,” said Michelle Rea, Executive Direc tor of the New York Press Association (NYPA). “Twen ty-five dollars may not seem like a lot to spend, but it can make a real difference for a Main Street merchant. Community newspapers across the state are already working with mayors, shop-owners and business as sociations about making September 25th a significant shopping day in New York State. So spread the word!”
