DRAWING CONCLUSIONS —by Kevin Eastwood R e a d e r s ’ V o i c e s : Letters and Commentary America needs to pay attention to those who are undermining the Constitution Dear Editor: In Charles Litwin’s rebuttal to m y letter o f Feb. 3, he began som e w h at in a g reem e n t w ith m e. He then w ent on to explain why the A .C .L.U . exists and how they p rotect the Constitution^ Bill o f Rights. H e w ent on with a lot o f rhetoric about equal protection and the right,to privacy, etc. I am well aware o f all those w h o are deviating from our original C o n stitution, the A .C .L.U . included. A m e rica is not w ithout flaws, but it is still the greatest republic in the world. W e were founded by people w h o w ere m u c h sm a rter than the people in pow er today. By the way, the people who founded our great nation were true believers in the freedom o f “G o d and C o u n try ” They left their countries to start anew, away from the tyranny o f their governm e n ts. Today, there exists w ithin our borders people w h o w ant to destroy all that we have achieved by attacking our religious freedom s. The 10 C o m m a n d m e n ts, prayer in school, the Boy Scouts o f A m e rica, “O n e nation under G o d ” in our pledge o f allegiance to the flag o f our country. W h y would the A .C .L.U . n o t rebuke such attacks? If the A .C .L.U . w ould like to becom e heroes in the eyes o f o u r countrym e n , I suggest that they find out why the Tides Foundation claim s that a new generation M il com e to pow e r m o re inform e d than their parents. W h y would they suggest a “Pledge o f Allegiance to the E a r th ? ” W h y would the federal governm e n t condone the rew riting o f A m e rican history in all school text b o o k s? Isn’t that w h a t A d o lf H itler did before the start o f W o rld W a r II? Pay attention A m e rica. G o d help us if you don’t.
