M arch 18,2010, BEACON SH O P P E R *11C BACCA announces its Spring Writers Space workshops begin April 13 The Babylon Citizens Council on the Arts (BACCA) is pleased to announce our W riter’s Space Spring Se ries. For the past decade, BACCA-has enthusiastically supported the W riters Space as a means to afford writ ers of all backgrounds the opportunity to cultivate their skills and learn artful ways on putting their thoughts on paper. Both accomplished and aspiring writers are invited to participate in this series of five interactive workshops designed for fiction writers, poets and essayists. The W riter’s Space is led by award winning poet and pub lished author, Mindy Kronenberg, and will help even the most seasoned writers become better at their craft. This bi-weekly workshop will be held every other Tuesday, beginning on April 13th, in West Babylon from 7:00 - 9:00 PM. If you write just for fun, or are look ing to take your talents further, the W riter’s Space is the place for you! The cost is $75. for BACCA Members and $85.00 for Non-Members. Bay Shore High School honored as the News 12 Long Island Varsity S cholar Athlete o f the Week Katie Lawlor of Bay Shore High School has been honored as the News 12 Long Island/MSG Varsity Scholar Athlete of the Week, an award that recognizes significant achievements both in the classroom and on the playing field. One of Long Island’s fastest rising stars, Lawlor is an outstanding swimmer and team player. According to Coach Mariusz Borkowski, she is team captain o f the Marauders and swims both the 200 and 500 freestyle. She is also part o f the relay team and earned All-League honors. Academically, Lawlor is number one in her class o f 4 6 0 with an un-weighted average of 9 5 .5, while scoring a 2170 on her SAT’s. Adding to her resume, she is the starting goalie for the lacrosse team and is an academ ic all-Am erican.
