Bay Shore senior named News 12 Scholar Athlete of the Week Bay Sh o r e H igh S c h o o l sen io r M arissa O’M eally was recently named a News 12 S c h o la r - A th lete o f th e W e e k . O ’M e a lly is a th r e e - s p o r t athlete excelling at lacrosse, track and swimming. Regarding her participation in the latter sport, nom inating coach Mariusz Borkowski states that, “Marissa is one o f the toughest individuals I have ever coached in the eight years that I have been in Bay Shore. She is a top com p etitor in term s o f h er work e t h ic ...ju s t trem e n d o u s !” O ’M e a lly swims the 100-m eter b reaststroke and is part o f th e defending co-cham p ion 200-m e ter free-style relay team . She also is a sprinter with the winter track team, yet h er favorite sport has become lacrosse in which she has gained All- County and Academ ic A ll-A m erican honors as a defenseman. O ’M eally is seventh in the graduating class with a 94 unweighted average and a 2030 SAT score.
