BEACON SHOPPER, M arch 4 ,2 0 1 0 D eath notices ----- — ■— —— - Albina DeGaspari, Babylon Village resident and Beacon Newspaper receptionist Albina D eGaspari, a resident o f Babylon Village since 1988 who worked for the Babylon Beacon newspaper and was known throughout the community, died Jan. 28, 2010 surrounded by her family. She was 86 years old. Mrs. DeGaspari was born in Ridgewood, New York, Feb. 7, 1923 and graduated from Richm ond Hill High School. Following her graduation, she worked as a secretary in M anhattan and m et her future husband Gabriel following his discharge from the service where A b n * DeGaspari he served as a m edic during W orld W ar II. The couple m arried in 1948 and had a daughter, Susan, three years later. In the early 1960s, G a b riel D eGaspari worked as a pharm a cist in Brooklyn and M rs. DeGaspari returned to work as a secretary at Inter-M aritim e Forwarding Com p any in M anhattan. She later worked in the executive offices at the YM CA and took a jo b with Catholic Charities in Glendale, Queens following the death o f her husband in 1980. A fter her move to Babylon in Septem b e rl988, Mrs. DeGaspari settled into her new hom e with her daughter, son-in-law Tom and granddaughters Kristen and Nicole. She began working at the Beacon newspaper in 1989 where she greeted everyone who cam e into the newspaper office with a kind word and smile. She made m any friends during the 19 years she worked there. “Shebecam e B abylon Village’s m o st beloved receptionist and even after she retired from the Beacon last year, she continued to keep in touch with her Babylon friends through weekly vistis to N ikki Jay Hair Salon, Glenn’s Dinette, the M eat M a rket and Gino’s Pizzeria,” said her daughter. Mrs. DeGaspari is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Thom a s C o lletti o f Babylon, and by her granddaughters Kristen and Nicole. She reposed at Lang Tobia D iPalm a Funeral Home, Babylon. A M ass o f C h ristian Burial was said at St. Joseph’s R.C. Church, followed by burial in St. Charles Cem etery, Farmingdale. Jeanne Elizabeth Reese, loving wife and mother Jeanne Elizabeth Reese, a resident o f Amityville, died Feb. 14, 2010 at the age o f 59. She had battled lung cancer for six months. M rs. Reese grew up in Elm o n t and for 40 years, she and her husband Richard lived in Levittown where they raised their three sons. The couple was m arried 40 years. “She was a loving wife Jeanne Elizabeth Reese and grandmother, and family was everything to her,” said her husband. M rs. Reese worked at Nassau County M edical Center and then at A. Holly Patterson Health Care Home in Uniondale as an a ccount clerk. She and her husband owned a lakeside hom e in Pennsylvania and spent their weekends there where Mrs. Reese loved bass fishing. They moved to Hidden Lakes in Amityville five years ago and loved the com m u n ity said Mr. Reese. In addition to her husband, M rs. Reese is survived by h er sons, Richard and h is wife Barbara o f Babylon, Scott and his wife Andrea o f W est Islip, and Eric and his wife Kelly o f W est Babylon. Her grandchildren, H a iley, K a y la, B r e n d e n , C o lin , Blake, Logan and Joy also survive her, as do her brothers, Jack o f Catskill, N.Y., Jim o f Kentucky and Brian o f Long Island, and her sister Peg o f Colorado. Her father Jo h n p r e d e c e a s e d her. Mrs. Reese reposed at Claude R. Boyd-Spencer Funeral Home, 4 48 West Main St., Babylon Village. A religious service was held there Thurs., Feb. 18.
