'J BUi '*> a 1 s Back Roads Provide Good Vacations Motorists vacationing in the Adirondack Park Area of'the - Empire State will want to explore the scenic back roads for an added thrill. Many of these are described in detail in Off-the- Beaten-Path, available free of charge to all who write the Adirondack Park Association, Box 874, Adirondack, New York 12808. In the Fall, the galaxy of the autumn colors on mountains and in the meadows may be enjoyed from back roads where motorists can drive slowly often seeing wildlife at the edge of the forest. Caves, mines, lakes, old military turnpikes, stands of ferns and v a balanced^ rock are among those* mentioned \in Off-the-Beateri-Path. Markers indicate stories of early settlers who made a living from the wilderness; somestructures still stand where trappers lived. More than fifty tours are described in the 26-page guide which covers 13- counties in the Adirondack Park Area.
