<A Lawrenceville Firemen's Field Days This Weekend; Softball, Prizes, Barbecue The Lawrenceville Firemen's Ninth Annual Field Day will be held Saturday and Sunday, August 24 and 25. Included is a two-day Softball Tournament hosting eight teams from the Firemen Softball League and the Town and Tavern League. Playing for a first place purse of fifty dollars plus trophy, second place twenty dollars and trophy, third place ten dollars. Ball games are to be played at the Lawrenceville Ball Park. The Norwood library will be closed on Sept. 2, Labor Day and will reopen on regular FsiU-season schedule on Tues., Sept. 3 . The first game slated for 12:00 noon Saturday, will be Helena against Hogansburg; 2:00 p.m. North Lawrence vs Hopkinton; 4:00 p.m. Norfolk vs Winthrop; 6:00 p.m. Brasher vs Nicholville. Refreshments and beverages available. Sunday a Chicken Barbecue will be held at the Lawrenceville Fire Hall. Adults $2.50 and children $1.50. Meal includes chicken, salads, relish tray, rolls, coffee and dessert. Serving begins at 11:00 a.m. until 6:00.' Mr. and Mrs. William Van Alstine have received a letter from Mrs. Van Alstine's son-in-law and daughter, Clayton and Sharon (Cyrus) Matthys, Adak, Alaska, in which she stated they experienced an earthquake recently on the Island. It did not do much damage at Adak but did some damage on the Island. The quake registered 6.2. The next day, they felt another smaller one. Mr. and Mrs. William Van Alstine have just returned home after spending six weeks in Adak, Alaska, guests of the Matthys family.
