He was later named sistent—principal, serving in that capacity, until-1954 when he assumed the duties of su- perintendent of schools. Announcement of his plans to retire next June were made -at-the-reorganization'Tneeting- of-the-board-6f-education. In conjunction with his an- nouncement j;he board appoint- ed G. Berton Davis as assistant- superintendent effective, im- \meaiatelyr- Mr. Davis now serves as principal of Flanders School and superintendent of the public school's elementary grades.
