Tygert left here Monday for New York where he intends working in the office for the hay firm of Bloomingdala & Volk^jaer. John E. Taylor, aged 76 years, died at bis residence last Wednesday morning. He had been a lifelong resident of this place, and urns a member of the Reformed chnrch of New Salem from which church the fun- eral occurred on Friday at 11 a. m. Four children of Mary M. Badliff, who resides about a mile from New Salem, wen arrested on complaint of violation of Sec. 291, penal code, and brought before justice Byall at his residence last Thursday for trial. Eugene Bnrlingame appearing for the people and Wm. J. Beid for the children. The evidence proved to be insnfScient'to sustain the complaint and the children were dis- charged and allowed to remain with the mother. NEW SCOTXABD. Will Long was in town over Sunday. We are glad to learn that John Moak, who has been confined to the house for the past two weeks from an injury to his foot while at work in the bay barn, is out again. Mr. and Mrs C. H. Taylor and daughter, Helen, with their Farlia friends, enjoyed a fine sleigh-ride and spent a pleasant day with friends «t South Bsthleham on Toes- day. The result of the contest between the black team and the grey horse, one evening lost week, was the blacks camo in a few minutes ahead, but the grey carried off the prise.
