As just a few of the most renowned artists in the world, they have had their work idolized, sceruti- nized, categorized and praised. The most novice of art connosieurs recog- nize their byline, even at first sight. The Heckscher Museum in Hunting- ton is sponsoring a four daytrip to various art centers in the New Eng- land area that will give novices and experts alike the opportunity to view various masterpieces. ''We've never had an extended trip such as this,\ said museum spokesper- som Barbara Press. \'We are trying this kind of trip because it is something that an individual would not be able to do by themselves.\ The tour will include visits to the Yale University Art Gallery, a collec- tion that. is recognized as among the finst in the United States. The Yale Center for British Art is also on the agenda. \People will be able to choose either of those two buildings to tour,\\ Mrs. Press explained. The tour, which is priced a $275, includes knowledgeable guides at each institution who will share information and special insights with the group, luncheons at historic inns and gourmet restaurants and a private reception at the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute with a tour through the outstanding collection led by Director David Brooke. \One hundred dollars of the $275 is a tax deductible contribution to the museums,\ Mrs. Press explained. \It really is a very good deal.\ Round trip chartered coach transportation, along with overnight accommodations in © first class lodgings, luggage handling, gratuities, luncheons and all admis- sions to the museum is included in the price. |_ \The only things that people will have to spend money on is breakfast and dinner,\ she explained. . The tour will also visit the Wasds- morth Atheneum and the Smith Col- lege Museum of Art in Northampton, Massachusetts. From there the group will visit the Williams College Museum of Art and the final day of the trip will . be spent at Hancock Shaker Village, a restored Shaker community in the Berkshire hills of Massachusetts. \It's somewhat like the Old Beth- page restoration village,\ Mrs. Press said. \It is an outdoor museum with arts and crafts of a Shaker Community that date back to the early 18th centu- ry.\ The tour, which is scheduled from October 25 through October 28, is holding limited registration through October 12. \We've had to limit the number of people going to 40 to 50,\ Mrs. Press explained; \so we don't overcrowd either the buses or the tours. \This is the kind,of trip that anyone who is looking for a distinctive, unique type of tour will enjoy,\ she continued. \There is no age factor involved. Just recently we in- formed an interested firm that at this time we are not inter- ested in leasing.\ Members of the Teen Center Advisory Committee of last year, in a letter to the board, expressed their belief that the program for teens, handi- capped young people, and senior citizens should be con : tinued because of their great value to so many people. Board President Herman C.
