Price- Fwo Cents ITte War Threatened, D e n v e r , Oct. 1 7 . — A conflict with the Utes seems imminent. Fri day morning two companies of mil itary left Gunnison City for the res ervation to arrest Agent Berry and others on a writ issued by the dis trict attorney of Gunnison county under orders from the Governor and probably reached the reserva tion line yesterday. Governor Pit kin was very much surprised at this movement of the military without bis being in.foraied, He expressed fears that they would not be able to cope with the Indians and, in his judgment, twice as many should have been taken. The United States District Attorney this morn ing will issue writs for the arrest of the Agent and his associates and bring them before the United States Commissioner, Sho< Id the military go on the reservation for the prisoners there is every danger of a conflict. Cron. Grant’s Movements. New-York, Oct. 17. - General Grant arrived from Hartford at 9 a. m. He attended service in the morning at the Central M. E. church, Rev. Dr. Newman's. In the alternoon he received a few per sonal friends at the hotel, and towards evening went out for a drive. Daring the week he will be tender ed a reception at the Union League Club. He will remain here until Friday or Saturday? when he will leave lor Utica, where he is due on the 2sth inst and Syricuse the 36 th. T h e F i r e R e c o rd- C h a r l e s t o n , Oct, 17.— A lire broke out m the cotton shed of the Commercial Cotton Pr< ss this after noon. A strong wind swept it rap idly down to the whirl, cousuanng two large cotton she:ds and a brick ■warehouse stored with cotton. The áre soon spread to the cotton on the wharves and thence to three British non steamships lying at the pier partially loaded with cotton. The rteamers were badly damaged. One is skill burning.
