B r o c k v i l l e , Ont., July i.— The international sculling match, gotten ‘up hy thé citizens of Brockvilie, as a g-veat feature in the célébration: of Dominion Day, took place this af ternoon. The prizes were: First, $500 ; second, $300; third,-$200, At 5 o’clock there was a slight rip ple, not^ enough to interfere with the vrace. FHieën minutes later, the men ware called out by a signal from the ju d o s ’ boat, the contest ants drawing the following positions: Kennedy, i;, K.Uiott, 2 ; Riley, 3; .Plaisted, 4; McKean, .5 ; Luther, 6; Ten Eyck, 7; Hanlon, '8. At 5:42, the signal shot was fired and the men bent, to. their work. In trice, a red cap and a blue shirt shot ahead, which was greeted with the cry of “ Go on, Hanlon,” echo ing from ten thousand throats. Un the lirst quarter, the others bunchet well together, lianlon leading abou four boat lengths and gulling his regulation stroke of thirty with qui et ease and grace, which betokenec thé fact that he held the race in the hBllow of his hand.
