Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Andre Laurin of the Lake Shore Rd. on the birth of their son, Jean Daniel, on Feb. 22, at the CVP H Medical Ctr. Pat and Polly Egan and children were called to the Pittsburgh area recently upon the sudden passing of Pat's father. Friends of former Chazy residents, The Rev. and Mrs. Keith Conover, will be saddened to learn that Keith's father, Ray Conover of Princeton Junction, New Jersey, died recently after suffering a heart attack. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. James Miller of Chazy on the birth of their daughter Deanne Lynne on Feb. 23 at the CVP H Medical Ctr. Piano students from Chazy, Amy Riggs, James Riley, Susan Sweet, and Ben Bryson recently participated in a student recital sponsored by the Clinton County Piano Teachers Association held in the Hartman Theater at PSUC. These young people are students of Mary Tisdale, Angela Bellm both of Chazy, and Carol Carpenter of Plattsburgh. A reminder - Kindergarten registration at Chazy Central School is on Thursday, March 25, at 1 p.m. Story Hour At Library The next Story Hour sponsored by the Friends of the Library will be held Saturday, March 20, at 10 a.m. in the Chazy Public Library. Children in grades K-3 are welcome. Committee members are Sally Bryson and Barbara Sweet. Felix Brockington C HAZY - Felix Ralph Brockington, 79, died at his home on March 7. He was born in Southampton, England on Oct. 8,1903, the son Philip and Iva (Whittle) Brockington. He owned Brockington Hardware in Plattsburgh for 27 years. Mr. Brockington is survived by his wife, the former Ida Alice Peron; a daughter, Mrs. Alan (Eunice) Hislop of Rouses Point; a son, Earrold Brockington, of Hudson Falls; brother, Philip of Linsey, Ontario; two sisters, Miss Adele Brockington and Mrs. Ronald (Patricia) Farmer, both of Point Claire, Quebec; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild and two nephews. Calling hours were held at the Clark Funeral Home in Rouses Point. SAANYS Directdr, Dale Hawley, Principal of Cortland Junior-Senior High School, moved to pledge the association's support for immediate legislation to raise the drinking age. He also commended State Senator James Donovan for his work in this regard. SAANYS Board of Directors noted the higher drinking age of states neighboring New York. They voiced concern over the evidence that youths from border states regularly cross into New York State for liquor purchases because of the state's lower minimum drinking age. Chazy Nursery School Taking Fall Applications Registration is now open at the Peter Pan Play School, of Chazy for the fall semester. This nursery school, founded in 1967, by director/teacher, Emily Castine, will celebrate its 15th anniversary in early June, with two identical musical productions of the J.M. Barrie's immortal \Peter Pan\. This school, based on the developmental theory of early childhood education as espoused by the internationally- known Gesell Institute, offers a wide variety of experiences and activities to children ages 3-5, so as to foster their social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development in preparation for the kindergarten experience. Parents interested in enrolling their child may call Mrs. Castine at the school, weekdays except Thursday, from 8:30-11:30 a.m. at 846-7349, or afternoon or weekends at 846-7585, for complete information. Senior Citizens Update About 30 members enjoyed the St. Patrick's Party on March 11. Table prizes were won by Emma McManus and Evelyn DeCelle. After the delicious dinner, cards were played. * Beginning April 6, Tuesday, the club will hold its business meeting at p.m. at the Town Hall. Please note the change of time. Dairy Day Set C HAZY-North Country Dairy Day will be March 25 at Miner Center in Chazy from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Speakers for the session include Agronomist Everett Thomas, Len Bull, chairman, Department of Animal Science at the Univeristy of Vermont and Harry Randy, director of research at Miner Institute. There also will be a panel discussion with area farmers, free refreshments, box lunches available and door prizes. The session is sponsored by Northeast Agribusiness Association and the William H. Miner Agricultural Re- search Institute. Rice Reports for Duty Marine Pvt. John B. Rice, son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel W. Rice III of Box 226, Chazy, has reported for duty at Marine Corps Development and Education Command, Quantico, Va. A 1980 graduate of Mount Assumption Institute, Plattsburgh, N.Y., he joined the Marine Corps in Sep- tember, 1981.
