Inspectors will be charged with checking all public buildings arid new construction in Rouses Point under the recently adopted state Fire Code. The village Fire Prevention Bureau is headed by Fire Chief George Rivers. Other members include Capt. Ri- chard Collins, Clifford Ashline, Jr., John Filion, Tim Lincourt, Robert Ethier, D. Lawrence and Code Inspec- tors include Frank Hoag, Carl Smith, Alan Nautel and Chuck Connors as an alternate. Rouses Point adopted the state Fire Code effective Feb- ruary 28. Lori Jean Sullivan, a sophomore at State University College of Arts and Science, Potsdam, has been named to the President's List for the fall 1981 semester. Among the most popular courses available at Northeastern Clinton Central School are those in computer operation. A student learns to program one of the devices at the school. Reunion Planned for Class of \57\ CHAMPLAIN-Some local members of St. Mary's Academy's graduating Class of '57 are planning a 25-year class reunion. The get-together is scheduled for Saturday, July 3, 1982, at Sally (Provost) Ryan's home at Chazy Landing. The local group voted for an informal gathering and meal rather than a formal affair. So far three organization- al meetings have been held. Many of the questionnaires that were sent out a few months ago were received, shared and enjoyed. A few addresses of three Canadian boarders of the class of '57 have not been found. The girls are Lucia Menegon, Louisette Duclos and Marie Therese Roberge. Many of our nuns, the Daughters of the Charity of the Sacred Heart, have been invited to attend the reunion. Jamaican Charged With Illegal Entry ROUSES POINT - U.S. Border Patrol agents at Rouses Point have reported the apprehension of a 30-year-old Jamaican who allegedly paid $1,000 to be smuggled into the country and obtain false documents. Officers said Merith Whitter was arrested in Plattsburgh as she was attempting to board a bus for New York City. She had been smuggled into the United States through the Champlain Port of Entry by an unidentified citizen of Canada. The woman told officers the trip to Plattsburgh and the Champlain Man Completes Basic Marine Pvt. John M. Armstrong, son of Robert K. Arm- strong of Box 246, Champlain, has completed recruit training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C. ' During the 11 -week training cycle, he learned the basics of battlefield survival. He was introduced to the typical daily routine that he will experience during his enlistment and studied the personal and professional standards tradi- tionally exhibited by Marines. He participated in an active physical conditioning pro- gram and gained proficiency in a variety of military skills, including first aid, rifle markmanship and close order drill. Teamwork and self-discipline were emphasized throughout the training cycle. A 1980 graduate of Northeastern Clinton Central High School, he joined the Marine Corps in November, 1981. fraudulent documents she used cost her $1,000. She was arraigned before United States Magistrate Henr Van Acker Jr. and was sentenced to serve 10 days in the Clinton County Jail. She will be held for deportation to Jamaica. Border Patrol officers also reported the apprehension of two Canadians whose criminal records made them exclu- dableirom the United States. Border Patrol Busy During February ROUSES POINT - U.S. Border Pattol officers in the Swanton (VT.) Sector reported the apprehension of 61 deportable aliens during the month of February. Officers said 10 of the aliens apprehended were either seeking employment or returning to illegal employment in the United States. Aliens from Cnada, Jamaica, Haiti, El Salvador, the United Kingdom, Portugal, Trinidad, Columbia and Malta were apprehended. Five of the aliens located had criminal records. In addition, 13 Customs violators were apprehended by Border Patrol agents and paid a total of $775 in penalties. ° The Border Patrol alsg^seized one vehicle during the month bringing the total value of seizures for the month to $3,225.
