MOOERS Lillian Peterkin 236-5287 Personals Mrs. Clarence Smith is spending a few weeks in Worcester, Mass, at the home of her daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Howe. It. Col. F.H. Peterkin (Ret.) has returned to Penn Yan after spending the weekend at his home here. Patsy, Peter and Paul Bushey, grandchildren of Mr. and Mrs. FraserBushey have returned home after visiting during the Easter vacation. They also visited their other grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Gonyo, for a week. Cub Scouts A recent meeting of Cub Pack #37 opened with a parade of the Cub Scouts dressed in \Knight's Armor\. The U. S. flag was car- . ( tied by Steven Orr and the Pack flag byMarkTrombley of Den 3. After the pledge of allegiance the knights assembled in chairs placed in a circle, representing King Arthur's Round Table. Dressed as King Arthur, Cub Master, Roy Henderson, sat at the head of the table. After readingthe Knight's Oath, the following knights were dubbed \Sir Knights r of the Bobcat rank - Allen Lafountain and Gerald Sherman, Jr. Next came the knighting of the Bear rank - Steven Suprenant and Alan Mon- ty. Also awarded a Denner badge was David Gallagher, Assistant Denner - Steven Spurenant of Den 1. After the knighting ceremonies a skit \Knights for Hire\ was presented by Den 2. Those par- ticipating were Scott Goodrich, Mike and Alan Monty, Terry La-* Valley, Randy Hem mingway, Kenneth Rabideau, Gerald Sher- man and Mike Henderson. Following the skit cards were presented to the committee for the ensuing year, and adult serv- ice stars were also presented. A \Jousting Tournament\ fol- lowed with all Cub Scouts par- ticipating. Refreshments were served by Den 1. The Cub Scouts will foster a soft drink bottle drive on April 22 and 23, 29 and 30. This is to finance Pack activities. Area residents are requested to save those empty bottles to help the Cub Scouts. The next regular meeting will beheld April 25 at 7:30 P.M. in the Legion Home in Mooers. Obituary MRS. LUCYDUPEE Mooers: Funeral services for Mrs. Lucy Dupee, age 48, of Mooers who died last Tuesday at Champlain Valley Hospital, Plattsburgh, were held last Thurs- day morning at Holy Angels Church in Altona. Rev. Howard McCasland, pastor, officiated at the Requiem Mass. Mrs. Dupee was the former Lucy Pi Ion, daughter of Godfrey and Olive (Duffina) Pilon of West Chazy, where she was born Jan- uary 14, 1920. She is survived by two sons, Godfrey and Janfordj both of Tariffville, Conn. Five daugh- ters, Mrs. Frederick (Carrie) Garrant of West Chazy, Mrs. Francis (Judy) Barcomb and Mrs. Raymond (Eva) Seymour, both of Tariffville, and the Misses Hilda and Ella Dupee of Mooers; also a brother, Ephrem Pilon of Wes: : Chazy and a sister, Mrs. William Myatt of Tariffville. The young women were selected for their achieve- ments in textiles, and clothing, and, foods and nutrition. Miss Susan Phair of Plattsburgh, Miss Mary Craig of Cadyville and Miss Polly Perky of Keese- ville were chosen by an Awards Trip Committee of 4-H repre- sentatives. Their three day trip will in- clude tours of General Foods, Good Housekeeping, Metro- politan Museum, J. C. Penney and Co,, and the Fashion In- stitute of Technology. Tours and luncheon engagements with Mc- Calls and Simplicity Pattern Companies, National Biscuit, Sealtest, Talon and John Dritz will also be included. Entertainment will include Radio City Music Hall and a Broadway show. Miss Susan Phair, a senior at Beekmantown Ce ntr a 1 School, attended State Exposition in 1965 as a foods demonstrator repre- senting the District of Clinton, Franklin and Essex Counties. Outstanding in the field of dairy, Miss Mary Craig, daugh- ter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Craig of Cadyville, has also attended New York State Exposition as a dairy judge representing Clinton County. She has been an active 4-H junior leader participating in 4-H Dress Revues and the Foods and Nutrition Demonstra- tion Program for several years. A sixteen year old junior at Keeseville Central School, Polly Perky represented Clinton, Frank- lin and Essex Counties at the New York State Exposition in 1965 both as a formal foods and nutrition demonstrator and as a 4-H booth worker. Miss Perky was also 4-H secretary at the Clinton County Fair in 1965, She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joel Perky of Keeseville. In- stead of the usual meeting place at the junior-senior high school, the group and other interested persons will board the school bus North Country Men Leave on Europian Tour Myron Major, assistant cashier at State Bank of Albany in Platts- burgh and James Weeks of Lake Placid left last Thursday via KIM Dutch Airlines from Montreal for an extensive tour of Europe. Highlights of the tour will in- clude Amsterdam, Munich, Zu- rich, skiing in the Swiss Alps and Innsbrook, Austria, They alsoplamto goto Southern France and the French Riviera and Ma- drid, Spain, winding up in Paris. for a trip to Plattsburgh. The purpose of the trip is a visit to the Area Trade and Technical Center on Boynton Ave., where the group will tour the various de- partments and hear details of the center's operations. At present there are a number of area students who are attending the classes at the center. PTA President Patrick Bradley will conduct the regular business meeting on the bus enroute to Plattsburgh. The committee in charge of ar- rangements wishes to stress that the bus will be leaving from the Champlain Central junior-senior high school building promptly at 7:15 p. m. Please be prompt so that the bus willbe able to reach its destina- tion on schedule.
