Material for- the \discussion was taken from the files .of The Ogdensburg Journal which included two series of arti- cles on city and county govern- ment. '. .Mrs. Quinlan spoke on the city charter of Ogdensburg and sketch- ed its history. She gave a synop- sis of the principal amendments which have been made to the charter. Mrs.\Selwyn Kershaw, chairman, of. the county League of Women \Voters outlined the work of the Board of Supervisors, the county sealer of weights and measures and the superintendent of high- ways. Mrs. D. J. Brown was to have spoken on these topics but due to illness was unable to be present and Mrs. Kershaw was asked to speak. Mrs. Nettie Quadlin. told of the duties of the county clerk, county treasurer, board of elections and the Home Bureau While Mrs. Charles Dillingham considered the county home, judiciary, sheriff's office, county nurse and children's agent. Mrs. F. E. Clark gave the op- erations of the city health nurse, board of education, fire-and police departments and the library board. During the meeting Mrs. Clark called attention to the internation- al exhibit to be given at Canton Library Mar, 25 and 26.. T-he- exhi- bit is giveir under auspices of the Canton, Ogdensburg and Gouver- heur branches of the American Association of University Women and the St. Lawrence- County lieague of Women Voters. Mrs. w. c. Maclntyre is chair- man of the Ogdensburg commit- tee with her associates being Mrs. . Harvey Hyde and Mrs. F. E. Clark. It was announced that a get to- gether of all untis of the League in the county will be held in Og- densburg in May. The .next meeting of the unit will be held at the home of Mrs. Har- vey H. Hyde on Apr, 21. Noted Japanese Philoso- pher To Speak At Pots- dam Civic Center Apr. 2 Beservations totaling 170 have tfeen made, from this city for the lecture to be given at the Potsdam Civic- Center at 2 o'clock the aft- ernoon of Apr. 2 by Dr. Kawaga, noted Japanese philosopher.. The visit to Potsdam is sponsored Tby the St. Lawrence Cdunty Ministers Association and indications point to an extra large attendance. Dr; Kawaga was to have spoke fet St.. Lawrence University at Canton on Apr. 2 and in.Potsdam that afternoon but becasuse of the Condition of his health a joint meeting has been arranged.
