Chili Connection I hope every one has written their letter to Santa, so you better be good. Of course I did my letter early, like the one I wrote for the last five years. I want my white BMW but then maybe it's too big for his sleigh. I will have to tell him where he can get one down here. I better send him another letter by Federal Express. December brings wonderful times to us all in the holidays it holds. Hanukkah, December 20 and Christmas, December 25. It also is a month that was special for Rose Maria Merante, Beverly Grigsbly and Mary Hynesh-Ackert who have December birthdays. December 18 was a special day for 'the Grigsbly family of Chili. Cindy Grigsbly returned home from a year overseas at Osam, South Korea. Cindy is in the United States Air Force and will be home for Christmas this year. What a wonderful Christmas this will be for the Grigsbly family. We all wish them a '( Merry Christmas and we all welcome Cindy home. Ralph and Becky Witlfarns recently had a new addition to their family, The pitter-patter of little feet, four little feet at that. Michaell, their daughter, brought home a darting little dwarf lop ear rabbit. I hear all are doing fine. Bunny is spoiled. Ralph and Becky also enjoyed a weekend trip to Toronto, Canada. Ralph went to see a computer show and then they went Christmas shopping and had a great time. The Welch family has recently moved to Chili (as she stated before they knew about the tax increase). They will be celebrating Christmas in their new home if they can find the Christmas tree. Jillian said she knows it's in one of the 101 boxes there. She just has to fird the right one. The children, of course, loved the bus ride there and back which was provided by Chili Recreation and driven by Larry Crozier, who works for Chili Recreation and Parks. A special report, Santa Claus is coming to Mother's Time Out, a program of child care, at the Chili Community Center. Children were waiting anxiously for his arrival. When the day finally came, Santa had presents for cach and every one. Children had time to tell Santa what they wanted for Christmas and if they were naughty or nice. You guessed it, they all reported that they were nice. Anne Hofschnider will retire December 25 from Chili's Town Highway Department. We all wish her the best. Chili Recreation's Breakfast With Santa was a huge success and a sell- out both weeks. The Recreation Department has sponsored this program for many years and is always a big success. The Naulins family of Chili has a special guest staying with them. A young lady __ Julia Makowski from Wiirzburg, Germany, near Frankfurt, is a foreign exchange student. Her favorite sports are skiing and handball, She plays European handball and was on the varsity tennis and second tennis doubles for Churchville-Chili. She likes ice cream the best and fast food the worst. Julia said what she likes about the U.S.A. is the friendly people. What she least liked about the U.S.A. is people never say what they reallythink. Julia hasher parents and one sister andone brother in Germany. This will be a special time for the Naulins and Julia with Christmas coming. It will be Julia's first Christmas here in the U.S.A. Julia will be able to see and share our tradition for Christmas and she will be able to share her tradition the way they celebrate Christmas over there. A learning experience for all. With Christmas here let's not forget the true meaning of Christmas \the Birth of Our Saviour.\ Let us all hope that the coming of the New Year will bring our troops in Somali home safe and sound and that the hunger will end. Hopefully, Peace on Earth and Good Willi Toward Men will finally come all over the world soon. I would like to wish everyone a happy and healthy New Year's. With a New Year coming so are January birthdays. James Grimes, Linda Collinge, Kristy Kretser, Jerry Brixner and Shawn Knapp will celebrate birthdays. Marquis Inducted into Honor Society Margaret E. Marquis, a North Chili resident, was teducted recently into the New York Omicron Chapter of Alpha Chi Nargnal Honor Soctety at SUNY College a Brockport, Marquis, a psychology major at SUNY Brockport, expects to receive her bachelor's degree in May, 1993. Marquis and her husband Edward C. Marquis five on Gilead Hi] Road in North Chig. Membership in Alpha Chi requires that a student be in the top 10 percent of cither the junior or sentar class and be elected by the faculty in departmem in which the student has pursued his/her major. Leaner Weigh Session Set For January 5 Keep your New Year's Eve resolution and attend an information session scheduled on Tuesday, January 5 from 6:30-7;30 p.m. for The Leaner Weigh, a moderate weight management and cholesterol reduction program. \The Leaner Weigh\ encourages a lifestyle change approach with a focus on nutrition for those __ who are interested in moderate weight loss. \There is no special \diet\ associated with the program,\ says Caroline Parks, R.N., director of the Health Connection at Park Ridge Hospital, which facilitates the program. \Participants leam how to eat rather than how to diet.\ \The Leaner Weigh\ is a program of The National Center for Health Promotion and consists of 16 sessivas that include lectures, discussion, skill building activities, realistic goal setting and 20 to 30 minutes of exercise. The program teaches participants to analyze their own cating habits and helps them establish an individualized nutrition plan. The fee forthe 16- week course is $380. Space is limited to 16 participants. To register for the information session, which is free-of-charge, contact the Health Connection at park Ridge Hospital, 723-7767. The Health Connection offers diabetes education, nutrition counseling and weight management programs.
