The United Auto Workers Union Local 1097, at a meet- ing held at their headquarters at 221 Dewey Ave. on October 17, 1963, endorsed the com- plete slate of Gates Repub- licans as their choice in the forthcoming Town Elections. Everett B. Russell, Candidate for Supervisor, had previously received ' the Conservative Party endorsement. Charles H. Eberhard, Candidate for Justice of the Peace had also received the Liberal Party endorsement. The Candidates expressed their appreciation in stating, ''We wish to thank every group and organization which has publically endors- ed us in answer to our pro- mise to bring Good Govern- ment to Gates.\ Many smaller public-spirited groups and individuals also drew appreciation from the Candidates. \We want to also thank those people both Democrat and Republican who have organized small groups in our Town in order to sup- port us.
