Difficult by Bob Piatt Continuing their return journey through the big school Central Division of the Northern Athletic Conference (NAC), the Tupper Lake High School soccer team has two tough assignments this week. The Lady Jack soccer squad was scheduled to host Malone \s Franklin Academy yesterday and will be traveling to Massena on Friday, both teams are classified as A programs. Last week, Tupper Lake was dealt two losses and their divisional record dropped to 1-3-0. Potsdam 3, TL 0 In a game played on die LP Quinn lower field last Wednesday. Potsdam would prevail by a score of 3-0. Coach Russ Bartlett would later note that. \We played really well against Potsdam, they're a really technically skilled and very athletic team. They play 18-20 girls deep and there's not a noticeable skill drop off between #3 and #20.\ Page 11 Tupper Lake Free Press Wednesday. September 28, 2005 till ients this week for soccer team The visiting Sandstoners, whose record is 4-0-1 in the Central Division and 7-1-1 overall, would pick up three goals in the first half before being shut-out in the second. \They are one of the only teams we've played that have been able to match us speed- wise,\ the coach would add. \That said, we did a great job of containing them for most of the game.\ Canton 1, TL 0 In a road game last Friday, TL outshot the Golden Bears (2-3-0,3-5-1) by a wide margin only to find the net very elusive. \We got off to another slow start against Canton, giving up the only goal of the game just 3:30 into the first half,\ Coach Bartlett said. \From that point on, we dominated play in nearly every respect - outshooting them 18- 6. We just need to break through and start getting goals, not just shots.\ 2005 NAC Central Division Standings Massena (A) 4-0-1 9 Potsdam (B) 4-0-1 9 Malone (A) 3-2-0 6 Ogdensburg(B) 3-3-0 6 Canton (B) 2-3-0 4 Gouvemeur(B) 1-2-0 2 Lady Jacks (C) 1-3-0 2 Nor-Norfolk <C) 0-5-0 0 JV Games Tupper's JV team also dropped a pair last week. Potsdam JV 4, TLJV0 The Junior Potsdam team left LP Quinn with a 4-0 victory last Wednesday. \Potsdam was a very fast team,\ said coach Nick Drollette Monday. \Their quickness certainly got to us early in the game as they scored four goals in the first half. Despite putting a few solid shots on net we couldn't score. We held Potsdam scoreless in the second half as our conditioning along with our bench really helped us keep up with Potsdam.\ \A 4-0 loss is not a complete loss in my books because we did hold them scoreless in the second half.\ Drollette added. Canton JV 2. TLJY0 \Despite once again playing hard and dominating play in the first half we had a few defensive breakdowns that lead to good scoring chances for Canton and the) capitalized twice.\ the JV soccer coach would note. Drollette said. \We played without our starting goalie who went down late in the practice on Thursday Brooke Chartier, however, played phenomenally in net.\ Penalty Kicks Senior goal keeper Erin Santerre remains out with a concussion. Lindsay Lavigne has stepped in to guard the goal for the Varisry team When sectional play begins in a month.
