LAKE FBIE PBISS, WED., WTT. 2», 20M torn LaMere honored with new Lions District-W award Tom LaMere, well known area building contractor and long time member of the Tupper Lake Lions Club, was honored last week by Lions District 20-W Governor Jim Shaw with a special district award for his many contributions to the local club and its community service here. District Governor Shaw, during a visit to the local club at the Fairway Restaurant Thursday, recognized Lion LaMere for his many accomplishments, including the care and upkeep of the Lions cook shack, his leadership and construction assistance in the creation of the Adam and Madeline Palmer gazebo-style band stand by the family of the late couple and the local Lions two years ago, his long time role as club lion tamer (the keeper of the club's property) and his sponsorship of over a half dozen new members in recent years. Club members that evening were unanimous in support of the district governor's choice of Mr. LaMere for the new award. \Tom is a great Lion and a mainstay of the Tupper Lake Lions Club,\ the official noted that evening. The sponsor donated not only sand for the local course's traps but a financial gift towards the tournament's pot for hospice. All entry fees also went to hospice, after a generous donation of greens fees and carts from the Tupper Lake Country Club and its pro shop.
