Aiditor of the Gazette and Farmers' Journal:- Drar Bir:-1I noticed an article in the Journal, Nov. 24th, from the grand und noble firm of Heald & Morris, which always means to be right, that should be read and remembered by every man in the land. It has the true ring, and comes from the right source <- from men who are successful manu- facturers themselves, and who know what they ure talking about. I say now that election is over, tell the truth ! Tell your Republican friends that Cleveland is elected President, that grass will grow next «pring, and good times will come as soon as a mar- ket opens for our productions, and not before. Tell them that the Democrats can not change any tariff law that now exists before one year from this coming winter. Tell them, also, that our in- terests are one and identical; that the Democrats want the business of the country to go on, and as far as lies in their power, it will go on. We do not blume the Republican party for the present dull condition of trade it is not their fault alone. The following article is taken from: the Syracuse Evening Journal : As it seems to be definitely settled that the country is to have four years of Democratic rule, would it not be acting a wise part to turn from the battle-fileld of politics--leaving the dead to bury the dead aud give our atten- tion to matters in which the business community is deeply interested, If it seemed necessary to the success of the Republican party that the key note of the campaign should be \Pro- tection,\ and to prophesy evil to the country should the party be defeated, it is now the purt of wisdom to look the if we can discover no ray of hope to il- lumine the darkened hotrizen. Is it really true that any additional stagna tion of business is likely to come as a result of a change of administration ? Aiud that the revival of trade is to be delayed thereby ? We think not.
