Hoar from Newfoundland, who informs, that the brave and adive Capt. Roufe had been to St. Julian’s, where he took 3 large Ships, and was arrived fafc with them at St. John's. ----- That he had difpoled of his fraalier Prizes and was corning home with the others j and maybe expeded the latter End of this Month. That he is in a fine Ship of 30 Guns, his 2 lieutenants in Ships of 16 or iS Guns each, and that Capt. Solomon Davis commands the Young-Eagle, which was formerly counted a very fine Veil el, but fince die has taken fo j many ft out Ships, fcems now defpifed by her i former Admirers. Our Men of War and Privateers have taken moft of their home ward bound Veftcb, as well as feveral outr* ward bound *, and alfo agrcat many Privateers. Their Ships for the moft Part have turned out valuable Prizes. Their Levant and T u r key Trade is much ftagnated. A Petition has been drawn and fign’d for a Man of \War to Cruize in and off the Bay of Dela ware, but don’t know whether thc Admirality ■will grant it immediately or not. Walton, from Maderia, who informs us while he was there •, arriv’d two large Privateer Ships, from London, mounting 30 Guns each, who in their PalTage from London to Maderia, had taken two large French Ships, their Car goes confifh chiefly of Sugar, which they have fent home under a Convoy * the Laid Privateers have got a large Tender laden with Provifions, and arc bound for the South Seas. Laft Thurfday was Launch’d a fine large Privateer Brigantine call’d the Gray-FIeund, flic is to carry 16 Carriage Guns and 1$ Swivels, fhe is comandcd by Capt. Jefferies* There lias not been fuch a Launch here this many Year, for fhe had her Mails in itnd Rigg’d, and all her Swivels, which was all fir’ d as foon as flic came into the Water, there was near ?ono People to fee the laid Launch.
