Two Boys and a Woman Shot-The Pinkertons - Roughly Handled. Atmait, Aug, 18.-Michao! Muloaby and James Sherlock, the two Plukerton men who assaulted John Bird while he was crossing the tracks at Bost Albany, were tried by Justice lade, of Greenbush, Sutur- day, and Muloahy wus sentenced to im- prisonment for twenty days with the alter- native of a $20 fine. | Sherlock was fined 880 or thirty duys. The greatest excitement reigns among the strikers and the public generally over a fracas between the Plukertons and a crowd of people, A freight train was coming down the grade from West Atbuny about 7 o'olook, The car had two Pinker ton men on it, and as they got down neur the Van Wort street orossing a «mall boy fired u stone, striking one of the guards. Justantly the fellow brought his rifle to his shoulder und fired. The ball missed the boy, but struck a man named John McCarthy, who was in his own yard, in the log. Instantly the other Pinkertons who lined the track opened fire on the inoffensive crowd near the station.. As if by magle the place suddenly swarined with strikers, but almost as quickly a squad of blue coted policemen came up ou a run. The crowd was kept back with difficulty. Chief of Police Willard ordered the ar- rest of five Pinkerton mon who were seen to aboot, They were Robort Tylor, Thomas O'Connor, Edward Kenny, Charles Park- burst aud Joweph Lewis.. All were locked up and tolegrain were sent ont to Inter cspt the train and arrest the man who fired the shot.
