O'Neil (R-St. Lawrence County) is urging Secretary of State Gail Shaffer to reconsider staff cutbacks in the Watertown codes enforcement of- fice. According to O'Neil, the Depart- ment of State is planning to scale down the office to a staff of onne field officer and one secretary. •Watertown staff positions are ap- parently being moved to Syracuse, he said. \While I recognize that budget constraints must be considered and a hiring freeze is on, my concern is NEWSBRIEF The American Lung Association is currently scheduling its' fall \Freedom From Smoking\ smok- ing cessation clinics in the North Country and needs clinic leaders to conduct these clinics.
