Lak~; Erie Art Trail, is exhibiting her work on the second floor of the Ellicottville Brewing Company in downtown Fredonia until Oct. 31. This exhibition is a col- lection of 27 pai'ntings. Most are \plein air\ paint- ing·s, works that Nixon cre- ated outdoors. \I follow large i.Uld small storm fronts, painting them until the wind or rain stops my progress,\ she said. Blues and greens fill Nixon's canvas- es. \My palette has changed over time,\ she said. \I now realize just how much liv- ing amidst alf this nature has changed who I am at the core. I can't help but be influenced by the beauty of nature <trmmd me.\ ·Other paintings on dis- play are abstract figurative works that reflect a trauma in Nixon's past. \1 died twice from ana- phylactic shock in 1994 and 1995 ,\ she said. \During my trip across, I suppose that I came back to life with image~ foot-printed into my soul to be. They haunt my paintings. They resist leav- ing my paintbrush.\ Two paintings of this exhibit reflect those images. This exhibition is one way the North Shore Arts Alliance is building rela- tionships with local busi- nesses and providing opportunities for its mem- bers to display their work.
