T he trustees have been induced, by the pros perous state ofthe Academy, under the care of Vlr. I. S. Spencer, and by the consideration, tuat instruction in the higher branches of an English education, is much needed by the youth in this place and its vicinity, to establish an English department according to the original plan.— Mr. Joseph Heauy, is to take charge of this part ; and the whole is to be under the care of Hr. Albany, 1 4 th February, 1825. P UBLIC NOTICE is herebv given, that the sale of lands for arrears of Quit-Rent, which has been heretofore advertised, and postponed from time to time by the legislature, will comt rnence on Tuesday the $d day o f May next , a- ten o’clock in the forenoon, at the capitol in the city of Albany, and continue from day to day until there shall be sold so much of each Grant or Patent, or of the lots in each Patent sub ject to Quit-Rent, as will be necessary to pay all arrears of Quit-Rent due thereon at the time of sale, together with all the charges of notice and sale. The conditions of sale will be, that the pur chasers pay the purchase moneys within forty- eight hours after the sale ; upon the payment of which they will receive ceriificat.es of their res pective purchases ; and that if any parcel of land purchased by them shall not be redeemed within two years after the close of the sales, by the pay ment into the treasury of this state, for their use, ofthe amount for which any such parcel of land may be sold, with interest at the rate of twenty per centum per annum, that then the said purchasers will be entitled to a conveyance of such parcel of land, subject however to the paymeut of all taxes then remaining due thereon. By an act of the 1 Oth day of April last, u renew ing the terms of commutation of Quit-rent, and providing for the sale of lands not discharged therefrom,” persons owning or possessed of anv lands charged with Quit-Rent, or on which arrears of Quit-Rent are due, may commute therefore on or before the said third day o f May next, by pay ing two dollars and fifty cents for every shilling sterling reserved in the grant thereof,* or in that proportion where the reservation is less than one shilling. 36 W, L. T HE subscriber having discovered the com position of S w a im ’ s celebrated PANACEA, has now a supply on hand for sale ; he has redu ced the price from $ 3 , 5 0 lo $ 2 , 5 0 , or by the do zen $24. The medicine is celebrated for the cure ofthe following diseases : scrofula or king’s evil ulcerated and putrid sore throat, standing heumatic affections, cutai eous diseases, jwhite welling and diseases of the bones, and all disea- es generally of an ulcerous character, and cronic diseases, generally arising in debilitated con stitutions, but more especially from syphilis,or affections arising therefrom, ulcers in the larnyx ire. and that dreadful disease occasioned by a long and excessive use of mercury, &c. It is also useful in diseases of the liver.” CERTIFICATE. I have employed the Panacea of M r. Swaim? in numerous instances, within the last three yeart^ and have always found it extremely eflicacioul* especially in secondary syphiities and mercurials disease.
