caucus, Itc. Yes, notwithstanding ihe disaffection o f some, and the coldness of others of the republican party, we have disappointed the hopes and blasted the prospects ,-of that portion of Clinton’s faction which exists in this county.— And had the whole force of the republican party been brought into action, this county would have given Col. wili be senator, and lest the people should bolt again, will just hint at it among my next curiosities. And as for that Mohawk Sentinel, I believe I will con tradict all it says and trust to the ignorance of my readers for the rest. But, I must abuse the editor ; and by the way lie is extremely vulnerable. He is a Lawyer. Good! Defeat—the_most complete defeat would have at* tended every exertion of our adversaries, had men been true to them selves. This county is Republican—we have proved it heretofore, we hare proved at this election and has no business to write for a paper. I will call him E s quire, it is an aristocratic name, and will go well with the farmers—(Going down stairs.) The republican candidate for Congress', Col. Dietz will obtain a majority quite respectable in this county and if we are correctly informed will be elected. The Senatorial ticket wili have nothing to boast o f on either side. As yet both parties claim a majority in this county. The fact that Col. M’Michael though residing among us will obtain but a trifling, if any majority, is also another proof o f the ascendancy of the republican party.
