AID IN TREATMENT OF BLOOD PRESSURE An examination of the organic ac tion of the kidneys to be used in con junction with an analysis pf the blood ha® been. a great help in the | diagnosis of patients suifering from high blood pressure, according to Dr. H enry . A llen Higley, pathologist of the Brooklyn Eye and E a r Hospital. This method of diagnosis, according to the physician, helps greatly in put ting the blood pressure at a point where it can be controlled by the phy sician if the patient will follow in- stretions- Dr. Higley stated that he has been conducting investigations with Dr. Cyrus W. Field, of M anhattan for five years. “Heretofore,” said Dr. Higley, I diagnoses have been based on the ex tent to which one or. more of the five substances which contribute to high blood pressure were present in the blood, but the condition of the blood is too variable to perm it of an accur ate diagnosis. For example* - sodiun* chloride, or plain salt, is one of the causes of high blood pressure. If a patient is examined immediately af ter partaking of-some ealty -food .an excess pf salt .wpuld «hpw in the W h at Port Jervis should have in mind is the extension of transporta tion service to points th a t have it not. Inasm uch as the Ontario and W estern gives poor service to Mantl- j cello, we better w ait for an appllca- t tion of a franchise th a t will bring f the Neversink Valley .and Sullivan county into closer relation, not a franchise th a t will be .a feeder to Mid dletown, who has never had much love for P o r t Jervis; we w a n t a bu.s fi’anehise down the Delaware Valley, and when the road over High Point to Sussex is built, we wrant a bus ser vice th a t will bring our Jersey neigh bors closer to Us. It is a vision of building up instead of pulling away from Port Jervis that we w ant to have in mind. Just as sure as the sun ri.ses and sets, we will some day have companies wanting to run to Monticello, Sussex, Brancliville, New ton, Milford, Dingmans and Bushkill, and our Common Council will be wise in carefully thinking things out and not granting anything now to any body in such a w’ay that freedom of action will be prevented in the near future, when the development of the highways in this section and the au tobus in territories nol penetrated by railroads will bring western Orange, Sullivan, Pike and Sussex counties i n to closer relations. No bus fran chise should be granted for a period longer than the life of the buses.
