A p leasant event of the week was tbe nniting in marria«e of Mary the eldest datig Lter of Mr. and Mrs. John SnlliYan of Water Mill to Patri ck Malone of New York. The marriage took place in this village late on Wednesday afternoon , the bridal party returning to the home of the bride ' s father where a recep tion was held ia honor of the event. At an early hour the honse was filled with invited guests , and all went merry as a marriage bell until the small wee hoars of the morning. Masio was furnished b y Prof. Marahall and son , of Bridge Hampton , the floor of the large dining room bared for the occasion was the center of attraction for the devotees of Terpsichore and the mnsoians ' skill was io continual demand , as reels , lancers , qaadrilles , and jigs followed one another in rap id succession , intersp&r sed by songs of livel y or comical nature. A typ ical song on \Water Mill , \ by Mr. Garvey, of New-York , the groom ' s best man , and manager of the affairs of good cheer , broug ht down tbe house. All the wants of the inner man were sumptaonsly provided for by Mrs. Sullivan and her diug hters , and the only thing we felt sorry about in . regard to the bounteous midni g ht sapper , was that we hadn 't capacity enough to sampl e all the good things spread before us. The young couple were generously remembered b y their frienda. The g ifts were numerous , costl y, and* serviceable , and all of practical value to them when they start housekeep ing as Mr. and Mrs. Malone. The gift which attracted most attention , and which will be hi g hl y valued b y Ihe recip ients , not only because of the g iver , but also as a work of art , was a li ght blua satiu sofa p illow , made in the Convent in Sag * Harbor , and presented by the Mother Superior. Oo the cushion worked with fine embroidery silk , were flowers and four representations of peacock feitthers tbe bright hues so blended together as to at ence create admiration of the art displayed in so perfectly reproducing the beauty of the natural feather , with silk. Congratulations and wishes of good luck were continuall y in order as reluctantly the guests took their departure , - each having fully done their part in giving \ ihe young couple a merry and happy start off in the connubial life . P AI .- Defending- tlio 'I' owil . The finding of great quantities of oysters in Shinnecock Bay has attracted oyster men from various parts of the county, aud hundreds have been engag- ed taking the bivalves. The Town Trua tees have issued un order warning all persons not residents of the town from oyelering in the Bay. The special officers appointed to look out for the interests of the town are Samuel Berry, Step hen Goodale , Willet Rogers , Henry Carter and Wesley Hulse , They are instructed , if thair orders are not obeyed , to deprive the trespas- sing parties of thei r implements by force , aud to get warrants oafc against parties resisting by force the orders of the officers. Three Futchogue parties , named Wm. Still , Alanaon Still and Chauncey Ross were arrested last week for oyetering in Shinnecock Bay , and broug ht before Justice Harri Howell for trial on Wednesday. They obtained the services of Timoth y M. Griffing of Riverhead to defend them. Ex Judge Young appeared for the Town. Deafness is caused by an inflamed condition of the mncus lining of the Eustachian Tube. When this tube gets iu flamed you have a rumbling aonnd or imperfect hearing, and when it is entirely closed . Deafness is the result , and unless the inffamation can be taken out and this tube restored to its normal condition , hearing will be destroy- ed forever ; nine cases out of ten are caused by Catarrh , which ia nothing but an inflamed condition of the mucus mem- branes.
