The paper is a five column.. folio of ei ghteen inches each column. The inside is entirel y taken up in commercial ad- vertisements in which rum and sugar largely predominate , twen ty-one brigs and other vessels are offered for frei g ht or charter. Among familiar names we notice the adver tisemen t of John Hal- sey, No. 85 1' earl St., liquors , and Jere- miah Hedges an insolvent debtor. The Philadelphia , Albany and Ver- mont line of stages leaves New York ev- ery day at ei g ht o^kj ck in the . rupji^ ing, (Sundays excepted) and arrives at Phila- del p hia earl y next day. The City Clerk advertises for propo- sals to run the Brookl yn Ferry from Fl y Marke t Sli p in the Cit y, of New York , to Brookl yn on Nassau Island , on a lease of three years. Loaelle Young, who was recentl y ap- pointed on the police force 1 'df New York City, was initiated into the wickedness , and had his eyes opened to the hopeless moral condition oi that ci ty immediatel y upon his arrival , or on his way there. He exchanged his pockefcbook for some experience—much to his disgust however. The check for his baggage- was in the book and he was forced to telegraph his wife for pecuniary assistance before he could get his trunk, «tc.
