Care of Plates Because every motorist must make his present registration plate do for 1943, Commissioner Splain urged that special care be taken to preserve it. He recom- mends that every motorist take this precaution: Clean the plate und apply a protective coat of spar varnish to its surface. The 1043 registration strip may not be displayed prior to January 1, 1043. The 1042 passenger and commercial vehicle registrations expire on Sunday; January 31, 1943;.omniau8 oM aj^ulance^eg- istrotlons expire December 31* 1942, while dealer and transpor- ter registrations expire January 31, 1943. Trailer, motorcycle and suburban registrations expire on January 31, 1943. > Although motorists will receive less metal for the money, there Is no change' in the registration fees for 1B43. Retain Plates \Any person not planning to register his car for 1943 should retain possession of the 1942 reg- istration plate,\ Commissioner Splain said. \If the owner desires lo register the ear Inter on in the year, he will want to use, that plate. In any case, he should^ re- tain custody of it.\ A small stock of plates is avail- able for original registrants in 1943 and to replace lost or muti- lated plates, but Commissioner Splain made it clear that the stock of 1942 plates held in reserve for 1944 issuance would not be drown upon in 1943. peace In a World at War •\Glory to God und on earth peace, good will to- ward men.\ Thoso words express the Divine purpose of the event which we celebrate on Christmas cloy. Nearly twenty centuries after this purpose was proclaimed, war of the most dreadful kind is being waged in practically every section of the eurth. Shall wo say then, that the task of bringing peace on earth was too great even for God? That question might be urus- wercd. by saying that the peace conferred through Christ is an in- ward state of mind which enables one to remain calm and undis- turbed nmid the external tempests I and conflicts that bring distress I and agony to the outer man.
