The actual amount of accounts for previous! years that has been audited this year amounts to $2,363,73, and we un- • * ♦ , derstand that there is some few old accounts that have not yet been • ^ I ■ presented to us, but we think that the amounts must be small. To prevent a similar occurrance, we have this fall advertised for all per sons having claims against the poor fund, to present the same to us before the first day of N o v ,; but still there are some few accounts that have not yet been presented to us. XVhether it is their philanthropy towards the county that causes them to be so remiss, or for other reasons, we are not prepared to say. Since our last report we have made some necessary repairs, and built a stone smoke-house. W e have also purchased one horse, * one cow, one wagon, one fanning mill, one straw cutter, and other farming implements; we have likewise furnished the house with beds, bedding and bedsteads, that were actually necessary from the feet that so large a number ot paupers were thrown upon our hands the last winter, and our expenses have been considerably increased by being compelled topurc^se % large amount o f grain* pork ag4 Sti* at very high prices. 1 9 -
