Mr. Galloway, of Ohio, lately made a capital hit in Congress, which brought down the House, He was demonstrate g that freedom constituted in this country the only true ami vital distinction of that “ nationality” which had been so much harped upon* nod illustrated this view by reciting the preamble to the Constitution which declares it the otjeet of the Union to ” secure the Weselngs of liberty to our selves and our posterity.” Dr. Marshall, of Kentucky, interrupted him by inquiring if 14 niggere” were included in this posteri ty t 41 Yes,” retorted Mr. Galloway quick ly, 44 perhaps in yours, but not in ours.” — The point was made with wonderful effect of manner, and flashed through the hall and gallery with elvctrio rapidity. The Southern medicus will hardly repeat the experiment in a hurry of running a tilt •gainst Sam Galloway. E verybody wjll be G etting M arried I They cannot help it. The State of New York has been more successful than governments usually are, in making administrative departments self-sustaining. It appears, by the Gover nor’s Message, that the Bank Department s wholly paid for out of the vaults o f the Banks. The Railroad Commissioners are paid tor by the Railroad Companies.— The convicts at Auburn earn the expense of their own incarceration. The emigra tion Commissioners derive their fund from the purses of the emigrants. The Salt- Works pay for their own superintendence end extension. The pay of the Militia comes out out of tlie tines of their delin quents. The Canals uot only pay tor their own construction and repairs, but contribute largely to the Revenues of the State. The following is from a distinguished mem ber vf the medical* profession: St. Paul, Jao’y, 1, 1S55. Prof. O. J. Wood—Dear Sir: Unsolicited, I send you this certificate. After bein^ nearly bald for u long time, and having tried all the lmir restoratives extant, and hav ing no faith in any, I wa» induced, on hearing of yours, to give it a trial. I placed myseif in the hands of a barber, and hud my head welt rubbed with a good, stiff brush, and the Restorative then applied and well rubbed in, till the scalp was all a glow. This I repeated every morning, and in three « eeks the young hair appeared, and grew rapidly from August last up to the present time, and is now thick, block and strong—soft and pleasant to the touch, whereas before it was harsh and wiry, what little there was of it and that little was disappearing rapidly. I still use your Re storative about twice a week, and shall soon have a good and perfect crop of hair. Now I have read of t hese things —and who has not ?—but have nevertscen hitherto, any case in which any person’s hair was really benefftied by any o f the hair tonics, Ac., of the day; and it really gives me pleasure to rdfl>rd the result of my experience. I have recommended your preparation to others, and it already has a large and general sale throughout the Territory. The people here saw its effects, and have confidence in it. All who have used it here will coincide with me in what 1 have written. The supply you sent us ns the wholesale agents o f the Territory, is idready exhausted, and daily in quiries are made for it. You deserve credit for your dis covery. 1 for one return you thanks for the benefit it has done me, for I certainly had despaired long, long ago of ever effecting any such result. 1 congratulate you that your fortune (and a larg. one) is already made. Yours, hastily, J. W. BOND. Firm o f Bond & Kellogg, Druggists, St. Paul, M. T. Brookfield, Mass., Jan 12,1S55. P rof . W ood —Dear Sir: Having made trial of your Hair Restorative, it gives me pleasure to say that its effect has been excellent in removing inflammation, dandruff, aud «a constant tendency to itching with which I have been troubled from childhood, and has also restored my hair, which was becoming gray, to its original color. I have used no other article, with anything like the pleasure and profit. YourMruly, J. K. BRAGG, Pastor o f the Orthodox Church, Biookficld.
